Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 19, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Hotel Tax Intelligence ("we," "us," or "our") collects when you use our website and Service, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It does not apply to the Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax filing data itself, which is public record maintained by the State of Texas and is not personal information about you.

2. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect the information you provide directly: first and last name, email address, phone number, and mailing address (street, apartment/suite, city, state, and ZIP). When you subscribe, payment card details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Paddle — we never see or store your full card number.

We also collect information generated by your use of the Service: which businesses you've recently viewed (so we can show you your own "Recently Viewed" list), and standard technical information like IP address and browser type, primarily for security and troubleshooting.

3. How We Use Your Information

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us operate the Service, under their own privacy and security obligations:

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hotel Tax Intelligence, our users, or others.

5. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. It's strictly necessary for the Service to function and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. It's cleared when your session ends or you log out.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated personal information deleted, contact us and we'll process your request, subject to any records we're required to keep for legal, tax, or billing purposes.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You can review and update your name, email, phone, and address at any time from the Profile page. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law — including the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act and, for California residents, the California Consumer Privacy Act — such as the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to opt out of certain uses. To exercise any of these rights, contact us.

8. Data Security

Passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text), connections to the Service are encrypted in transit, and access to account data is limited to what's needed to operate the Service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under 18.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
