1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Hotel Tax Intelligence (the "Service"), operated by Hotel Tax Intelligence ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Hotel Tax Intelligence is a subscription research tool that organizes Texas Hotel Occupancy Tax filings — sourced from official state filings — into a searchable dashboard, including filing history, ownership-change tracking, RevPAR, year-over-year variance, and Excel export.
3. Independent, Not an Official Government Service
Hotel Tax Intelligence is an independent research tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts or any other government agency. Nothing on the Service should be treated as an official government record. For official records, consult the applicable government agency directly.
4. Not Investment, Legal, or Financial Advice
The Service is provided for general informational and research purposes only. Nothing on the Service constitutes investment, financial, legal, tax, or professional advice, and nothing here should be relied upon as the sole basis for any acquisition, construction, financing, or other business decision. You are solely responsible for independently verifying any figure before acting on it, and for obtaining professional advice appropriate to your situation.
5. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials confidential, and for all activity that occurs under your account.
6. Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation
Paid access is billed on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly, as selected) through our payment processor, Paddle. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price until canceled. You may cancel at any time from the Billing page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for, and you retain full access until then. Except where required by law or Paddle's own policies, fees already paid are non-refundable.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract data from the Service other than through the features we provide; (b) resell, sublicense, or redistribute the compiled dataset or any derived analytics as a standalone product; (c) attempt to circumvent the Service's authentication or access controls; (d) reverse engineer or attempt to extract the underlying source code of the Service; or (e) use the Service in a way that could disable, overburden, or impair it.
8. Data Accuracy and No Warranty
Data displayed on the Service is derived from official state filings, refreshed on a nightly basis, and may lag behind, differ from, or contain errors relative to the underlying government source. The Service, and all data made available through it, is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
9. Intellectual Property
The organization, computation, linking, and presentation of the underlying public filings — along with the Service's design, software, and branding — are owned by Hotel Tax Intelligence. The underlying raw tax filings themselves remain public record maintained by the State of Texas.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hotel Tax Intelligence and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including decisions made in reliance on data provided through it.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
